Who knew when a young businessman and caring nurse met at a Christmas party 50 years ago their relationship would blossom into a lifetime of compassion and generosity?
Dennis and Dianne Puskaric both believe in helping people in need and have made a point of giving back throughout their lives.
A registered nurse, Dianne is caring by nature. After retiring from nursing, she volunteered for a hospice in their hometown as a patient visitor. Dennis often accompanied her on visits. In addition, he has given his time to many community organizations, including Treasure Coast Hospice, where he served as a volunteer board member from 2017-18.
In 2014, the Puskarics set up a trust to ensure that the charities they support would benefit even after they were gone. It was important to Dennis to spend time with the organizations that would be the beneficiaries of their trust to see how they operated and if they would be good stewards of the funding each would receive.
“I cannot stress enough the importance of coming up with a plan to give back if you have any assets whatsoever,” said Dennis. “Commit yourself to organizations that do work you care about.”
Dennis and Dianne decided to support Treasure Coast Hospice after seeing a few friends receive care from the organization. “The care they gave during my friends’ last days had quite an impression on me,” Dennis reflected. “I’ve seen how Treasure Coast Hospice has helped people and I want to help them continue that in our community.”
Treasure Coast Hospice is grateful for the support of The Puskarics and others who have chosen to become part of the Legacy Circle.
